In the Old Testament, God sometimes commanded war, usually for judgment or the protection of His people. Deuteronomy 20:1–4 -God gave Israel instructions for battle and reminded them not to fear because He would fight for them.

Joshua 6 -The fall of Jericho is an example of God-led war for the fulfillment of His covenant.

However, these wars were specific to a time, place, and purpose. They are not blanket approval for violence today.
