John 1:40-41 [40] One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. [41] He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). Labouring in obscurity Andrew is an easy apostle to miss. He is not like loud Peter, who is at the forefront leading the church; or like James and John with their fiery tempers. But he is quietly working in the background. He has deep faith in Jesus and is brings people to Jesus, including his own brother.
In God’s kingdom, no one is too small (1 Cor. 12:23). There are many who labour in the background, working in obscurity, but accomplishing much. In fact, on the day of judgment, there will be many surprises! There are many who bring people to Jesus – witnessing to his glory and interceding for the saints.
God sees it. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Jesus said that not even a cup of water given to those in need will go unrewarded (Matt. 10:42). Be encouraged. Your labour is not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58). And if nobody sees it, God does and he will reward it – in his own way and at his own time.
